I
describe my works as abstract in the field of colour rather than
imagery, as I believe a viewer should be provoked by what they
feel and then see and believe they are seeing in each individual
work rather than being prompted by an image or specific title
(there is enough advertising about for that!). My work is largely worked-up in acrylic, employing
some mixed mediums, using palette knives as my preferred tool of
application. I work on canvas and paper.
My
influences are American Abstract Expressionists and Colour Field
Painters – Mark
Rothko, Jackson Pollack, William De Kooning, Clifford Still and
Robert Motherwell to
name a few!
